Langston Hughes - Salvation

Langston Hughes creates a past touch into a true to life drama of guilt, deception, and grief, in "Salvation." He reveals the story of how he was forced into receiving Christ by his peers, relatives, and preacher. Helpless and alone, he struggles against spectacular, odds. After a long-winded sermon the children of the congregation are asked to come send and accept Jesus.

Instead of moving forward, Langston waits for the Lord to come to him. When nothing happens, Langston goes send anyway just to please his aunt and the church. In the end be is not only grief-stricken, but has Lost all confidence in God.

John Adams Biography

Group pressure forced Langston into doing something that was totally against his good judgment. When Langston's friend Westley went send the pressure increased twofold. Not only was he exposed to the persuasion of the church, but he realized that if Westley did it, it might be admissible. A similar situation might be Adam and Eve in the organery of Eden.

When Adam saw that Eve had taken of the fruit and was unharmed, he too ate of the tree of knowledge. Westley for real hadn't been struck dead, so why not give in to save supplementary trouble? If he didn't get saved every person would turn against him. In a sense the congregation became his God because they pushed him into going to the platform.

The author gains the respect of the reader by telling the story from his point of view and in his own voice. He tells the story truthfully as accurately as he can remember it.

The very vivid descriptions of the church, the preacher, and his aunt, help keep the momentum of the story rolling. Langston provides the main character an audience and the reader a bit of human excitement. He recreates the true drama of facing an opposing force without any face help.

Although Langston Hughes believed in the reality of Jesus, he was deceivingly forced into doing something wholly against his will. He fooled every person by manufacture an insincere decision. His emotions and feelings come out in the end of the story. Langston could hear himself mental while the ordeal and he knew that he was alone. His final decision was based on what was sufficient for the congregation, not himself.

"Salvation" is an awesome portrayal of what true salvation is all about. It is a heart decision, not just walking down an aisle. It was Keith Green, the Gospel Artist, who once said: "Going to church doesn't make you a Christian, anymore than going to McDonald's makes you a hamburger." Endquote!

It is my sincere desire that those who don't know the Lord who read "Salvation" may understand what it for real says in I John 1:9: If we confess with our mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we shall be saved."

Notice, confession is from confidence in the heart, not out of peer pressure or submission to what every person else wants you to do. I sincerely believe "Salvation" by Langston Hughes makes those who have merely walked down an aisle, not because they wanted to find Jesus, think twice.

When one truly finds Christ, it'll be from the heart, not from whatever else.

John Adams: The American Presidents Series: The 2nd President, 1797-1801 Overview

A revealing look at the true beginning of American politics

Until recently rescued by David McCullough, John Adams has always been overshadowed by Washington and Jefferson. Volatile, impulsive, irritable, and self-pitying, Adams seemed temperamentally unsuited for the presidency. Yet in many ways he was the perfect successor to Washington in terms of ability, experience, and popularity.

Possessed of a far-ranging intelligence, Adams took office amid the birth of the government and multiple crises. Besides maintaining neutrality and regaining peace, his administration created the Department of the Navy, put the army on a surer footing, and left a solvent treasury. One of his shrewdest acts was surely the appointment of moderate Federalist John Marshall as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Though he was a Federalist, he sought to work outside the still-forming party system. In the end, this would be Adams’s greatest failing and most useful lesson to later leaders.

John Hume

John Hume has recently been voted the "Greatest Irishman Ever" in an Rte Television poll. He has come from a situation of poverty in Derry to become an Mp, an Mep and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

He was born in 1937 and sat the 11 plus test the first year that it was introduced. This enabled him to attend St. Columbs College in Derry and he also got a University scholarship. He studied for the priesthood at Maynooth for a time but gave it up and returned to Derry. At the time Catholics found it very hard to get housing in Derry and the City Council and the Planning Office were controlled by a Unionist majority so it looked like the situation was never going to change.

John Adams Biography

He was initially reluctant to enter politics but when he saw the Civil proprietary Movement going on simultaneously in the United States he grew to admire Martin Luther King. Hume realised that the best way transmit was through consensus, by entertaining both sides, Nationalists and Unionists to create a best solution. His home was attacked and he was not always beloved because habitancy did not want to see him engage with the theory to try and enhance the lives of habitancy nearby him.

John Hume

At the heart of John Hume's religious doctrine was the belief that the Northern question was an economic one and after receiving a telegram from Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy he managed to make taste with a whole of high profile Irish Americans such as Tip O Neill (the Speaker of the House) and Bruce Morrisson. When Margaret Thatcher signed the Anglo Irish deal it was clear that she did not want to but she allegedly said "the Americans made me do it". Once that deal was signed in 1985 it meant that Ireland (North and South) was viewed more favourably by Europe and America. This led to the creation of the International Fund for Ireland which created weighty opportunities for the Irish economy and provided thousands of jobs.

John Hume also believed that "the answer to unlikeness is to respect it". He got complicated in peaceful protest and started incommunicable talks with Gerry Adams, the leader of Sinn Fein, even though public plan was very much against this. When word of the talks leaked out there were 2 major atrocities within 7 days, Frizells Fish Shop on the Shankhill Road, Belfast and the Greysteel killings. This marked a low point in the Troubles and 6 weeks later Albert Reynolds and John Major signed the Downing road Declaration.

John Hume believed in a consensus arrival and he had a vision that the final explication would consist of a three party association 1) between Unionists & Nationalists 2) between Britain and Ireland 3) between North and South. All of that had to be worked out and it took in excess of 30 years. John Hume gave his life to the cause of working for peace in Northern Ireland.

Murray N. Rothbard's ambition was to shed new light on Colonial history and show that the struggle for human liberty was the heart and soul of this land from its discovery through the culminating event of the American Revolution. These four volumes are a tour de force, enough to establish Rothbard as one of the great American historians. Murray N. Rothbard (1926-1995) was America's greatest radical libertarian author -- writing authoritatively about ethics, philosophy, economics, American history, and the history of ideas. He presented the most fundamental challenge to the legitimacy of government, and he refined thinking about the self-ownership and non-coercion principles. Biography of Murray N.
